Link of Cross-Reference does not work all of the time

Win XP, Word 2003 and Adobe 7. I enabled "Add Links to Adobe PDF" and "Convert Cross-References and TOC to Links". The problem is, in the generated PDF, link of TOC has the possibility of 75% to be active, while cross-reference has only 10% chance to be active. I really don't know why. I'm sure my Word syntax is correct because the links sometimes work. If necessary, I can send you my original Word file.

Hi irvine,

If you are using URLs in your Word syntax make sure that your field codes option is turned off in Word when you print.
In Microsoft Word Chose - Tools > Options > Print > and deselect the Field Codes option.Otherwise, the links show up in the PDF as {hyperlink"http://www.adobe.com"} and don't link properly.

Keep us posted if this corrects the problem,
Lori

Thank you very much for your advice. My problem is, the TOC is almost always OK, but cross-reference, e.g., in word I wrote:

"The equation is on Page 1.". Here "Page 1" is a cross-reference, I inserted it under menu "insert->reference->cross reference->equation".This kind of cross-reference has around 10% chance to be active. I mean, in the generated PDF file, when you move the mouse on "The equation is on Page 1.", the mouse pointer becomes a small hand and if you click, Acrobat must automatically turn to page 1.

I really don't know why. My TOC has 90% chance to be active, but cross-reference can hardly be active. However, the text is OK, field code is not printed.

Thank you again and I'm looking forward to your reply!
