Losing Bookmarks and Hyperlinks when PDFing from PDF

I have a PDF which is from an external source and at print resolution. I have added bookmarks and hyperlinks in the PDF and I need to print it to screen resolution.

When I 'print to PDF', the new PDF does not include my bookmarks or hyperlinks.

Also when I 'print to PDF' from MS Word, the hyperlinks are not converted as well.

I've looked at my print settings and Acrobat settings and I can't see anything to use to turn this feature on.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 8.0, Windows

Running a PDF back through Distiller can do that. Annoying, no?
Perhaps you could produce your screen resolution PDF, then add the links and bookmarks.

Perhaps you need to edit the conversion settings.
In MS Word, from the menu bar: Adobe PDF > Change Conversion Settings
Under the various tabs, are the features you want selected?
If using MS Word 2007, is Adobe PDF functionality enabled?

It is very annoying especially when you have spent 4 hours creating the links and bookmarks :(

I use to have the PDFMaker toolbar and Adobe PDF menu item but these are not available anymore. Any idea how to enable these again?

Look over numbers 3 and 4 in this post by the moderator. Perhaps one of these will help.

I believe that these settings are only when you use the Convert to Adobe PDF command, not when you print to PDF. I've never been able to get bookmarks or hyperlinks (in the TOC for instance) working when I print to PDF, even if these settings are active.

My two cents...

Yes, you are correct. With the applicable settings selected, it is Convert to PDF that yields links, bookmarks, etc.

Should have been more explicit in my post to kiwiflame. Thanks for the catch.
