I am trying to use Acrobat Distiller 7 to create a pdf from a Quark file. The Quark file has a few imported eps files. When I try to make the pdf from distiller it gives me an error
%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: MMXPR3 ]%% and it won't continue. I can make the pdf by exporting from Quark but a map made in Illustrator and imported in does not appear correct in the pdf. Could you tell me what the problem is?

Acrobat Standard 7.0.7, Macintosh

Hi Rose_Campbell,

Quark uses a different technique than Distiller for converting PDFs (clone RIP technology), which may be why you only receive the error when converting through Distiller. It appears that the error may be associated with the imported eps graphics. I would suggest opening the eps files and resaving them or replacing them, it’s possible they are corrupt, require fonts, or need to be saved in a different format.

Hope this helps,
Lori

Thanks Lori. I did end up converting the Illustrator eps file to a tiff and re-importing it into Quark. Then it converted to pdf correctly. I think the file must have been corrupted.
