Computer freezes when trying to print, no dialog box appears

When I try to print any pdf it freezes the computer and I have to use task manager to end the adobe reader process. No dialog box appears when I click File > Print, it just hangs. If I right click on the pdf file (instead of opening it) and click print it will print to the default printer just fine. I would like to be able to open the file and print it like it's supposed to though. Thanks

This is often caused by having extra unused printers installed. Acrobat polls all print devices before it sends a job, so the freeze can be caused by an old/outdated printer network path. Can you remove any unused printers on your system?

You might also try:

- Deleting the Adobe PDF Printer, it will re-install itself after deleting if you launch Acrobat and go to Help > Repair Acrobat Installation.

- Go to the Start Menu
   Click on Run
Type the following (press enter after each)
   c:
   cd\
   del arc*.tmp /S

This process deletes acrobat temp files that are stored on your pc, which may slow down acrobat printing.

Hope it helps. This article will provide more troubleshooting tips:
