Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional Extended

Could you please confirm whether the above Adobe software allows you to convert STANDALONE supported mulimedia files (eg AVI, MPEG, MOV etc) into STANDALONE FLV files.

All the literature I have read says that it can be done but really is related to EMBEDDING the FLV file into a PDF document.

I will need them embedded at some stage but dont want to be restricted on when and how this is done.

Having a standalone FLV which has been created/converted from an existing standalone video file is preferred.

I have not had much luck talking directly to Adobe Tech Support who seem to fumble around trying to answer the question. They keep saying yes to embedding but have not been so convincing on whether a separate FLV file can be created.

As a separate file I can then view in FLASH PLAYER for example or/and then embedd it within a new or existing PDF document that I have created.

Many thanks

Regards

Peter

This can be done indirectly, if the computer has Acrobat 9 Pro Extended and Microsoft Word:

1. Create a new, blank document and save it in a temporary folder.

2. In the Acrobat menu in Word, select Embed Video, choose the media file and click OK.

3. A folder with the same name as the document is created in the document's location; the standalone FLV created in the process is placed in this folder.

Further to my reply:

In MS Word, select Acrobat > Preferences, and then click the Video tab, to control preferences related to video quality, audio quality, and location of the converted movie.Shlomo Perets
