Make a poster image on a sound file not print.

I am wondering if there is a way to make it so the poster image of an embedded sound file doesn't print. I don't see any options for this anywhere and I am wondering if this just isn't possible or maybe I just don't see it.

It would be nice if there was the option to make it visible on screen but not print like what can be done with a button field.

Rich media annotations don't live on a PDF layer, so you can't set their visibility as a function of app events. One option is to just paint over it - add a layer on top of the page (after the RMA has been added) that draws a white rectangle etc. over the area the RMA occupies, and set that layer to hidden, locked, always prints.

You can of course use the layer to print something in the empty space - we use them to fill in the areas where an embedded video or 3D viewport is, and print a different high-res image.

Thanks for the suggestion about layers. I don't use layer very often so I forgot about that option. Thinking about layers got me to come up with another solution as well.

Make a button that is set to use an icon instead of a caption. Turn any kind of interactivity off and set it to be visible on screen but not print. So now I have an image that doesn't print. Then drop a sound annotation without a poster image on top of the button. I just have to remember to grab both of the elements when the group needs to be moved somewhere else.

Thanks for the response.
