Hello All,

Need some help from experts.

Our problem is:
When using Adobe 8/8.1(Standard and professional), Applied digital signatures are vanishing/disappearing when re-opening the form in the same or in different machine. But this behavior is not happening when using adobe earlier versions(6 and7 versions).

Thanks in advance.
Sean

I think I might have an answer to your problem.

Typically if the signatures are not showing up its because the wrong form is displayed. When opening the document in Acrobat there is a form field indicator at the top just below the toolbars, if there are compiled signatures then there will be separate forms, try clicking on them to activate and if the signatures are applied to the selected form then it will appear on the document.

is this the problem?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply..

Generally ,when form is opening a pop-up window displays saying "verifying all signatures" after this step applied signatures get disappear. But this is not happening in earlier versions.

Thanks,
Sean

I don’t know if this will help you or not, it certainly solved a lot of my problems I was having.

I use Acrobat to create the documents to be signed, the people who sign the documents use reader 8.0. In acrobat when creating the document there is an option under the advanced tab "enable user rights in adobe reader". When this is activated the saved document becomes available to all users with reader without having to depend on email.

SO if the file is saved in a central location everyone can view it, sign it, save it and it will all stay in one file / one form. Which really makes it nice so there is no compiling necessary.

Again, I’m not 100% sure why you are having this problem so its hard to make a clear suggestion..

Does this info help at all? .. also there should be a option in acrobat to automatically verify signatures on opening... if this is turned off it might do what you want... I'm unable to find such an option but I'm looking.

Thank you very much for your time..

Actullay the form contains 30 pages developed in adobe 6 version

Users across the country download the basic form through internet.Users may use any version from 6 onwards(We can't force the user to use perticular version)

a) Users fill the information and validates the form by clicking button(form contains adobe javascript code).

b)After successfully validating ,form allows the user to apply a digital signatures

c) if any errors in the form , form will not allow the user to apply signatures.

d) After successfully applying signatures, if the user updates any information in the form then resetting the applied signatures to null ,that means user has to apply the signature again

here i want to tell you something...

While reading Javascript for API reference version 8

there is a note for doc.resetForm() method, the note is

Note:If the form contains signature fields, signature rights are required to use the method in Adobe Reader.

we are using this method for step (d)

The form is having two digital signature fields one is for person 1 and the other is for person 2

Once the person 1 applies signature 1 then the second person applies his signature.

When second person trying to apply his signature the first signature is disappearing when opening the form in his machine(for versions 8.x)

When testing we found the same thing

Thanks,
Sean

I had a similar issue. I ended up deleting the signature fields then recreating them. This appeared to resolve the issue. Not sure if it will for you though. Good luck!

That means what you faced the problems in 8.x is not faced in 8.1.2?

If that is the case i will install and check this problem.

once again thanks for your time..

Thanks,
Sean.
