We want to publish protected PDF eBooks. Assigning a password is not a solution because any user can tell the password to someone else. An online DRM solution (like Policy Server)is NOT neither a solution because we cannot force our clients to have an Internet connexion when using our eBooks: we need an offline process by which the user must unlock the eBook on the first time use by entering a code unique to his/her computer, and we would give that code to the user by mail or phone. Do you have a solution ? Thank you.

The two products announced on the
FileOpen site rely on the use of an
online Permission Server. Their
previous products supported offline protection, not new ones apparently.
So any other suggestion ?

I SECOND Abdoulatif's REQUEST !!
The FileOpen solution completely cuts me out of the international market. Many international customers access the web via internet cafes. They can't afford to 'print once' there, and the point of this exercise is to protect e-books from piracy once it's been downloaded, and resides either on a flash drive or CD.
I would love to find a solution for this, and it would be even better if it worked with a Mac. I can live with the latter, but I can't live with a web-only solution.

I believe FileOpen Systems' DRM solution has the ability to provide off-line viewing sessions for protected PDFs. You will need to contact them for details on how it works.
