Open ZIP Attachments in PDF

We have Adobe Professional 8. Have a PDF with a ZIP attachment that we cannot open. Help implies that we can change a setting to allow ZIPs to open. Cannot find the location. Help.

Hi mbgaskins,

There is no simple fix for this from the Acrobat user interface. Below is a link to an Adobe Tech document that explains the ZIP attachment issue. The fixes are a bit involved and there is a disclaimer for one fix I will repeat here-

"Disclaimer: Adobe does not support modifying the registry, which contains critical system and application information. Make sure you back up the registry before you modify it. For more information about the registry, refer to your Windows documentation or contact Microsoft."

dear mbgaskins,

you must edit trust settings to open attached zir/rar/exe etc. files. but you can only do this by registry editing. on the link below there is a solution for it. there are 2 reg files in zipped file. one of them allows you to open attachments other restores default settings for it.
