Hi

I have created a form in acrobat pro 9 and made the advaced tab->extended features available for the form so that it can be digitally signed when opened in a reader 9.0 but when i do that it gives me an error

"Creation of the signature cannot be completed.
error at file ...\sources\DSHandler.cpp. "

what is wrong ? please let me know.

Thanks

To clarify, are you getting this error when you attempt to enable the document in Acrobat, or when you attempt to apply a digital signature with Reader?

I should have asked before, but did you create the form in Acrobat or LiveCycle Designer? How did you transfer the file from the machine with Acrobat Pro to the macine with Reader 9?

I used Acrobat 9 Live cycle designer. It was a trial version then.

I created on the same machine on which I have the reader now.

That's an unusual error. I could not find any other reports of anything similar. Do you currently have Acrobat Pro and Reader installed on the same machine? Have you tried enabling any other files and tested them?

Are you using Acrobat Default Security for Digital Signature creation or another type? If you're using Acrobat Default Security is this listed under Edit > Preferences > Security under the Advanced Preferences for Digital Signatures?

The Topaz website says that you need the latest version of SigPlus to use with Acrobat 9/Reader. Is this what you are using? If so, make sure your Preferences are setup in Reader to use SigPlus as the default signature handler not Acrobat. There are instructions on the Topaz website on how to do this.

Has anyone found an answer for this problem? I find that if I have a PDF open (Acrobat Pro 9 Extended), set Topaz as the signature handler through Edit -->Preferences-->Security... that I can then sign the document using the sig pad. As soon as I close the doc, re-open and try again, the settings have switched back to Adobe default... the preferences I have set for Topaz do not "stick"....any ideas?Edit: got the latest plug-in from Topaz for Acrobat 9...settings now "stick"...

The non-stickiness of the setting in a compatibility problem that came up with Acrobat 9 and some third party signature handlers. It is possible for Topaz to issue an update that fixes it, but since this affected so many users, Adobe is also issuing a fix in a dot release of Acrobat. Unfortunately, the date for that release has not yet been announced
