In Adobe Pro 7.09 can you set document permissions to restrict who can print and save when they are accessed via a intranet site? I want to restrict access via PDF market research reports in a intranet site I'm working on.

My Product Information:
Acrobat Pro 7.0.9, Windows

Hi dcochran,

Acrobat has to ability to set document permissions (i.e., print) on a individual document but to control who has access to that particular document you'll probably want to investigate LiveCycle Policy server. Adobe LiveCycle Policy Server is a server-based security system that provides dynamic control over PDFs. Adobe LiveCycle Policy Server can be configured to run with LDAP, ADS, and other enterprise systems.
Security policies are stored on the Policy Server, the PDFs aren’t. However, users may be required to connect to the Policy Server so that they can open or continue to use PDFs to which a security policy has been applied.

Hope this helps,
Lori

Hi dcochran,

If the number of individuals is somewhat limited and controllable you can also use Certificate Security in Acrobat to limit access (this requires Acrobat 6 or higher). For more information on this visit:

pvincent,
Yes, you can restrict the a PDF to print only and you can preclude extraction of an image.
For a discussion of this, open Acrobat's help and search on "security options".

Is there a way to enable security of a pdf that allows a specific number of printing's regardless of who is printing the pdf. We are looking for a kind of counter to track print usage and disable the printabilty or access to the pdf once a specified number of printings is reached.
