Hi Ihetu Anthony,

You’ll need Acrobat and not just the free Reader to combine two files together. Or, you also subscribe to the PDF Pack service to do this at:
https://acrobat.adobe.com/us/en/products/pdf-pack-pricing.html

Thanks,
Lori

Hi Lori,

I would make sure you have all the latest Quark updates first. Then, if it’s still happening, you’ll probably want to contact Quark since they design and support the PDF import capability.

Thanks,
Lori

Hi Stuart,

The easiest way to manipulate pages is to use the Page Thumbnails navigation pane. You’ll find the insert icon right at the top - only one click away. But, you won’t find this in the free Reader.

Thanks,
Lori

When I create a pdf from an Indesign file it looks great in Acrobat but when I place it in Quark the photos appear as squiggly lines and turns a 2 color ad to black and white with nothing at the bottom like it should be. Any ideas?

... Forgive me for getting a little tense here, but how can it be any harder than clicking a single icon somewhere on a toolbar?
Add a page?
You know, like, I’m done with this page, i’d like another… ping… add a page…
Is it really harder than that???

Hi Michelle,

You can only do this using Acrobat and not the free Reader. If you only have Reader you can subscribe to the PDF Pack service to combine files. Here is a tutorial that explains how:

Thanks,

My Adobe X1 only has the option to Print pages, Reduce Page Thumbnails, & Enlarge Page Thumbnails under the drop down arrow. Do I need a different version to be able to insert pages?

It used to be easier and faster in earlier versions of Acrobat.

Hi Lotus99,

I agree that would be easier. If you have a moment you can post your suggestion here:

Thanks Lori. That works! Too bad the menu method doesn’t allow you to pick pages also.  It’s easier for a user to find IMO.

Hi Lotus99,

If you only need to insert one page, then open up both PDF files side by side and drag and drop pages from the Thumbnails navigation pane.

Thanks,
Lori

Great tips, but is there a way to just insert one page from the second document?  It seems to only allow you to insert the whole document at a certain point, not just a page or two from it?

Hi sam,

These features (including the ability to insert pages) are only available in Acrobat and not the free Reader.

Thanks,
Lori

Hello.  Very clear and efficient tutorial.  Thank you!!

My comment.  I think the real value of the drag and drop option is you don’t have to save the source pdf first.  Say if someone sends you a pdf page for inclusion in your home document, you can simply open from the email, drag, drop, and delete the source pdf and email if desired.  No saving it first and then navigating back to it.

My version of adobe doesn’t allow to add pages. In the “Options” only allows Print Pages, Reduce Page Thumbnails and Enlarge.
Any advice?

Hi Sara,

I just tried it in Safari and it played fine. Let me know if you’re able to view it in Firefox.

I use Safari, as it seems more useful for my needs. But I do have Firefox, and could try it.

Hi Sara,

Are you having problems seeing the video? I played it in FireFox and it appeared to be working fine. If you’re still experiencing problems, can you provide a little more information and we’ll try and help.

Thanks, Patty
