IE Crashes When Trying to Display PDF Files in Content Mgt System

We have recently updated all of our employee workstations to Acrobat Reader 9. This caused a problem with viewing files in our Content Management System. There is a patch for this, which I did install. However, it works only on workstations with just Reader 9 installed. If the user has the full-blown Adobe Acrobat installed, whenever he/she tries to pull up a PDF file in the web version of our Content Management System, they get a message that IE has encountered an error and must close. Following are the details: AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 7.0.6000.16876 ModName: adobepdfl.dll ModVer: 9.0.0.2579 Offset: 0007081d

I removed the adobepdfl.dll and tried retrieving the PDF files, and they did come up with this file removed. However, whenever the workstation is restarted Adobe Acrobat reinstalls it. It's a vicious cycle. I would appreciate any ideas about how we can work around this.

Sounds like you're experiencing interoperability issues with Acrobat and/or Reader. What version of Acrobat was on the machines prior to installing Reader 9. How was the install performed, manually or through a package installation?

Version 8 was previously installed. Everything was upgraded to Version 9. I have now removed Reader 9 completely, uninstalled Acrobat 9 Pro Extended, reinstalled Acrobat 9 Pro Extended, and the problem still occurs. In the process of searching for something else in the temp folder, I found files named in the following manner: PDF37.tmp (0 KB), PDF37.tmp.PDF (34 KB). I found these two .tmp files for each occurrence of the error. In displaying the tmp PDF files, I found that they are the images I was trying to display in the Content Management System. Does this give you anymore clues? I appreciate your help.
