Hi libraboy,

This definitely needs to be in the FAQ- it is a constant source of confusion for so many people. Since the day Adobe decided to put two different programs in the same box, which create two different kinds of PDF files, confusion has reigned over the kingdom.

You cannot edit a LiveCycle form like that in Acrobat. LiveCycle Designer is a completely separate program from Acrobat. It creates XFA forms that have a PDF wrapper ( the wrapper is what enables XFA forms to be viewed in Acrobat). Acrobat creates AcroForms, or true PDF forms. That is why the Advanced Editing toolbar in Acrobat is greyed out- it is not accessible for a LiveCycle form.

So, if you need to edit a LiveCycle form you must open your form in LiveCycle Designer to do it.

Hope this helps,

Dimitri
