How to download and run an Action using Acrobat X

Donna Baker – February 6, 2012

Don't be afraid to try out the Actions in Acrobat X. It's easy to run Actions using the Action Wizard to automate PDF tasks. Here's an example using an Action that flattens fields and comments in a form. Follow these easy steps:

  • Open the file or form you want to change.
  • In the Action Wizard tool, click the Action to open its dialog box.
Click Next to open the Save As dialog box.
  • Name the file and choose a storage location, then click Save.
  • Acrobat X runs the Action, then click to close the dialog box.

Check out the file—you'll see the fields and comments can't be selected. In the Comments panel, you see there aren't any comments left in the document. In the Contents panel, there aren't any comments or form fields listed. Now the form can be shared without worrying about changes.
